The Perfect Date

The Perfect Date

Every day I stand outside your gate
With much intent to see if fate
Has something in store so that we
May get to each others’ faces see.
I know all the flowers by heart
That stand tall on your balustrade;
With a flower too, I’d make my start
If only the gate did not forbade.

But I know that this hope is vain
And inferior, and profane;
And I wish you understand this, dear
What holds me back is only fear,
And so I want to count on fate
To get this wanton wait to stop:
I’ll know it’s not early, nor too late
When you run into me at a shop.

Then I’ll have nothing to complain,
And my fear will have been in vain:
I do believe destiny’s might
Can make a little something alright.
Then I won't stand outside your gate,
Knowing already that fate
Set us up for the perfect date
For which both of us had to wait.

Hope you guys had a fun Valentine's Day.
I fantasized about a guitar that I'm going to buy, so I was all set. And then of course, I played the one I currently own for quite a while,
knowing I should be studying.

Guilty indulgences, I tell you, are a way of life.

Ciao!
Wish me luck for the Boards, which I just might end up bombing! :D

Secret Rendezvous

Secret Rendezvous

...And we'll take a walk; one on the outskirts of the football field, through the empty corridors, dotting the perimeter of the basketball court, behind the small stage that is lined with trees. We'll walk on the grey impaled marble floors, or on dust-laden cement, slow as snails, for as long as we wanted to. We’ll hear the crickets chirring, the grasshoppers singing, while the rest of the world danced to their own tune, enjoyed their own follies…

We’ll catch up on things we had lost track of. We’ll speak about people, how much they affect out lives; chat facetiously about our distinctly alike tastes in music; shared insignificant little stories of our lives that had somehow affected us in the slightest possible way.

We’ll be joking about trivial matters still, as we cross the big black gate for the second time, heading towards the driveway again. And I’ll push you gently as I tease you about another guy in your chess club, saying that if there were team chess matches, you both could make babies by the time the opponent makes a move. You’ll push me back too, with a wee bit more force, saying it was as easy for me to score girls as it was to score goals, and that girls liked taking their shirts off at hot footballers anyway; I’ll pretend to have not heard the comment you made about me being hot, and I'd know you’ll be apprehensive about saying something like that again.

After more rounds of the driveway, the sand pit, and the mini garden near the reception with the water fountain at its center, we’d finally settle down to sit, at the uneven piece of rock outside the periphery of the tennis court; there is nobody there to see us, except for the footprints sitting idle on the tennis court, and cobwebs that have gathered on the corners of the walls. Only I would sit down though; you'd want to keep standing for a little while longer because your legs feel restless. I’ll pull on your hand once, twice, mocking you to come sit with me before you'd want to; you'll retort back with an impish, almost inaudible scream, calling me a retard. Finally you’ll sit, right beside me, and for a fleeting moment we'll look at the stars together, both of use in awe of, and revering, our spontaneous, secret rendezvous. Another moment of silence follows, this one more tangible, and we are just about to start talking again when your phone rings and you have to leave.

I'll escort you back to the auditorium, where everybody is watching the proceedings of a dance show they’ve already seen an umpteen number of times during the rehearsals; a dance they don’t like much, but still want to watch. And you see me off with a brief hug goodbye; nod your head as you wave your hand.

I start walking around the football ground, trying to distance myself from the commotion that is going on next to it, in the auditorium. I stand still for a second, stretch my back, and look up at the stars again, your voice stuck in my head like a song on repeat.

WAIT.
Now that you've read this, you should know that...
~> I wrote this long back and had decided against posting, but then, it's Valentine's Day.
~> I have a Physics Practical tomorrow, for which I should be studying, but I took a break to finish editing this because of YOU, my beloved reader. So lest something bad were to happen tomorrow, prepare to be bombarded with a good ton of hate mail.
~> This is not the complete story. The complete story neither begins, nor ends, like this.

Peace out.
Wish me luck for tomorrow.
And nobody's getting no hate mail 'cuz I don't have the time. Or the addresses.

Ciao.

Valentine's Day Epiphanies

  I made myself a cup of green tea today. Vagueness struck me and I decided to put in honey instead of sugar. Then it became so thick and so dark it wasn't green anymore. And it tasted like just honey, only not as thick and somewhat lemony. How sad.
  Anyway, yesterday was pretty cool. I hadn't had a Valentine's Day that cool in ages.
  No, I didn't have sex. Or any of the things you do before you have sex.
  I realized, thanks to my peers, that there exist teenagers who have friends they can keep kissing all the time. I mean, there's this chick who literally kisses one of her best male friends even though they're not dating. And she's always posting somewhat sappy and mostly suggestive messages on his facebook wall that clearly show that she's horny for him. Jesus. THAT is what I feel is sad. Talk about OUT OF CONTROL hormones.
  I also realized that there are people in this world who've given up on other people. Not themselves, just other people. When their trust is tossed around and played with like a ball, bad things happen. Things which lead to worse things. It's sad. The insides of their hearts are scathed by words and feelings. They feel so much that they can only contain in themselves. And even though I might feel pity for them, I know I'm just as worse as they are.
  I realized that more than love, people just want other people they can completely trust. And as sad as it sounds, it is true.
  I also realized that no matter how much time you've spent with a person nurturing and developing a relationship, it all goes bust in a moment of rage. Whatever you've established yourself as is nothing but a mirage. It's like they didn't know you for so long even though you were so sure they did...
  I realized that if two people have been hurt enough by others, they'll never trust each other even though there'd be no scientifically plausible reason for them to do so.
  I also realized, and this one came as a shock, that trust gives you the power to break someone. It does, really. Think about it.
  .
  .
  .
  You really didn't think I'll end like that did you?
  Well, freaking whatever man. Shit happens. All the time. Shit is happening even now and some us aren't even bothered.
  Screw bullshit.
  Listen to killer music. It helps. Always. It's not conditional. ALWAYS.

One Devious Lady

She lowered her glasses and looked at me
A look of confused desire
Her lips curled and her eyebrows did frown...
And she winked.
They'd warned me of her innuendos;
Yes, they had.

I told her all I could to whatever she'd asked
And she listened with patience
But I stood on the periphery, and she in the center
And balance was all I needed.
They'd warned me this would happen;
Yes, they had.

I did trust her with all my thoughts and feelings;
I let her get too close to hurt me
And she made me cry without breaking my heart
I guess that means something.
They'd warned me of this.
Yes, they had.

And if she's the moon, I know only the brighter side.
The darker one remains concealed.
But somewhere in my mind, an intuition says,
A new moon is approaching.
But they hadn't warned me of this.
Oh no, they hadn't.

 They couldn't foresee much...
This was one devious lady.

How's that for a Valentine's Day poem? (O_o)
